The theme of the presentation of the Christ child appears several times in the work of VITALIS. Initially, the scene is constructed with the Virgin and Child in the left-hand corner, while the visitors, often three in number (the Magi), are positioned on the right. Yellow is the dominant colour, particularly bright in the 1962 “Epiphany”. Then VITALIS changed his construction (“Adoration” or “Holy Family” of 1965) by placing the Virgin holding her child in the centre of the painting.
