Macario VITALIS at the age of 88, in 1986, in Manila
Portraits and nudes, mostly female
VITALIS studied during his American years (1918 to 1925) at the San Francisco School of Fine Arts and later at the Philadelphia School of Fine Arts. In Paris, he turned to the relatively classical École de Paris – Montmartre style. This training naturally led to an interest in portraits and nudes (another facet of this training being expressed in his drawings), which he represented, for portraits, in all his style and colour palette.
Nudes
