Macario VITALIS
Macario VITALIS dans les années 1957 à 1962
From 1957, VITALIS settled permanently in the Breton Tregor, in Plestin-les-Grèves. His style evolved from cubism to a cubist-impressionist alliance. However, he continued to return regularly to Paris to offer paintings to Camille Renault who exhibited them in his restaurants “Big Boy” and “Le Bateau de Pierre” (see article on Camille Renault and Vitalis). In 1962, he attended several performances of the Filipino folklore troupe, the “Bayanihan”, at the Théatre de Paris. Seduced, but also nostalgic, VITALIS followed the troupe when it returned to the Philippines: in December 1962, VITALIS returned to his native country 44 years after having left it.
