Macario VITALIS was a Filipino painter, born in 1898 and died in 1989. VITALIS’ known artistic career began in France, which he joined in 1925 at the age of 27. His first period presents a figurative style, classic of the Montmartre movement – School of Paris. He joined Puteaux and the restorer-patron Camille RENAULT around 1936. There he met some influential members of the Cubist group of the Golden Section of Puteaux, whom he accompanied in style, and more particularly that of Jacques VILLON. In 1953, he settled permanently in Plestin-les-Grèves, in the Breton Trégor, where he developed over time a style made of cubism, impressionism and pointillism.
